Instructional Design
A good instructional design is more than the development of beautiful materials. Design must include careful consideration of the business goals, the learner needs, and how humans think and learn. Good design follows an iterative process, carefully considering the materials and methods to most effectively bridge performance gaps to ensure long-term behavioral change.
Much of this process is hidden from view - analyzing organizational goals, assessing the profiles of the learners, analyzing and evaluating data, and collaborating effectively with stakeholders and subject matter experts (SMEs). Design Documents and Storyboards can help to tell the story of the expert design process. Below, please explore some of my recent work.

Navigating Difficult Conversations in the Workplace
A growing engineering consulting firm needed a way to sustain a company culture of open communication and honest conflict resolution to maintain their positive team dynamic as more individuals joined the company and worked remotely. As the company grew, productivity of teams dropped by an average of 11%, with 86% of employees citing the lack of effective communication as the main cause for workplace failures. This module was developed as the first of three in a series.

Getting Started in Barn Hunt
As more novice dog handlers explore the growing sport of Barn Hunt and sign up for introductory classes, it became important for the client to seek additional support for novice handlers. This course was designed as an introduction to the sport for customers to take prior to coming to their first in-person class, allowing for more time to be spent learning to handle the dogs, minimizing barriers to the sport and increasing the capacity for business growth.

Finding and Hiring the Right Technical Team
The client needed to hire 2000 new members of their technical team but struggled to find appropriate candidates for their positions. They identified that the interview and hiring process was one reason that the company had struggled to fill vacant roles. During exit interviews for candidates who took other positions, the lack of professionalism in the interview process was cited as a concern. In addition, hiring managers reported that poor cultural fit or poor technical skill of new hires was responsible for the short staffing longevity currently reported. This training supported interviewers and hiring managers in developing a standardized interview process that identified quality candidates to fill technical roles and supported positive business practices for the client.
